Q. When do I need an attorney?
A. Anyone with civil or criminal problems will benefit from good legal advice. Choices that are made early in the process routinely affect the outcome of litigation.
Q. Do all legal problems need to have a jury trial to be resolved?
A. No. Most people are given a choice between trial by jury or just a judge. Also, a lot of cases never reach a trial because the respective attorneys reach an agreement that is approved by the client before the trial starts.
Q. Why do I need a trial attorney?
A. Due to the complications of our legal system, representing yourself becomes increasingly difficult. A trial attorney makes it significantly easier to navigate the waters of the legal system and increases your chances of coming away from a case without being convicted.
Q. Who has the final say as to whether to go to trial or accept an offer from the other side?
A. The client always has the final say on the acceptance or rejection of any pre-trial offer such as a plea bargain.
Q. Can I fire my attorney if I am dissatisfied?
A. Yes, that is an absolute right of the client at almost any stage of the proceedings.
Q. When can't I fire my attorney?
A. Under rare circumstances at the time of trial, a judge may not let you stop the litigation process and attempt to get a new attorney up to speed.
