A 25-year-old San Jose man has been arrested and charged with kidnapping, robbery, and assault after allegedly holding another man at gunpoint, forcing him to drive to Los Angeles and back, and then withdraw money from a San Jose bank.
Police say that at 6 a.m. last Sunday, the suspect asked the victim for a ride, then took out a handgun and threatened to shoot the victim if he did not follow instructions. Inside the victim’s car, the suspect fired a shot as a warning, and forced the victim to call his family to ask for a ransom. The two then returned to San Jose and the victim was forced into the suspect’s car, still at gunpoint. The suspect drove to a bank and told the victim to withdraw money, accompanying him into the building. Police were somehow alerted, and the suspect was arrested in the parking lot while the victim was still inside.
