Gang Related Cases on the Rise

Posted on June 26th, 2009 No Comments

Federal agents recently arrested many high ranking members of a gang in California.  Many units operate in law enforcement specifically to target and arrest potential gang members.

Individuals with gang ties or suspected of being affiliated with a gang generally face stricter and more harsh sentences than individuals not suspected of gang activity.  This type of sentence is done to try and "set an example" to deter other potential gang members,  but seems unfair because it is saying that the criminal charges can vary between person and person.

Moscow–A Russian banker/financier is planning on appealing his murder conviction. He was convicted of ordering the murder of the deputy head of Russia’s central bank. It is believed that the financier ordered the murder out of revenge; the deputy head had revoked the financier’s license earlier.

The financier’s defense lawyers had argued that the trial’s jury had not heard their evidence.

The deputy head of the bank was assassinated as he left a soccer game. Others associated with the murder, including the shooter and the driver of the vehicle in which the shooter was, have already been charged.
