After ten years, the case of the murder of Chandra Levy has finally been put to rest. An El Salvidorian immigrant named Ingmar Guandique has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for the murder of the 24 year-old intern.
At the time of the murder, it had been speculated that Gary Condit, a congressman from California and the man having an affair with Levy, may have played a part in her death. Investigations into this theory turned up no evidence, and he was no longer considered a suspect. Police did not have another suspect until 2009 when Guandique, who was in prison for attacking women in the same area where Levy disappeared, allegedly confessed to a fellow inmate that he had committed the murder.
There were no witnesses or evidence linking Guandique to the murder.
