Four men arrested for robbery

Four men accused of robbing another of his wallet and backpack were apprehended by police Tuesday night.

Santa Cruz police report that two men brandished a shotgun at a 29-year-old man and demanded he hand over his wallet and backpack. The incident occurred on the 400 block of Lincoln Street around 9:40 PM.

Police were able to obtain a vehicle description from the robbery victim and issue a countywide “Project ROPE” bulletin, which allowed them to inform officers everywhere of the incident.

The suspects were caught in a burgundy Cadillac a few hours later.

Five men arrested for check-cashing store robbery

Police have identified five men as suspects in the shooting of an employee during the mid-afternoon robbery of a check-cashing store in South San Jose.

According to police, the men, aged 30, 36, 18, 19, and 32, allegedly robbed the Check ‘n’ Go Payday Loans at 461 Blossom Hill Road last Tuesday.

During the robbery, th 27-year-old woman and 23-year-old man working at the store were held at gunpoint. The man was shot in the arm and taken to a hospital, but is expected to make a recovery.

According to the 27-year-old woman, the robbers acted as a team, with two remaining outside as lookouts while the others came inside.

The robbers fled the scene but were seen by police in the area of southbound Highway 87 near Curtner Avenue.

Police followed the vehicle before stopping it near Jackson Avenue. The five men then fled the scene on foot but all were eventually caught.

Couple Arrested for Suspected Shoplifting

A San Jose couple was arrested on suspicion of robbery.  The couple allegedly shoplifted clothing and merchandise from a Kohl’s department store.  Aside from shoplifting charges, however, the husband may likely face assault charges, as he assaulted police officer who approached him and his wife.

Although the couple fled the department store, San Jose police officers’ follow-up investigation led them to find the names and addresses of the couple.  Additionally, officers obtained a search warrant to search the couple’s home for evidence related to the robbery.
