Marijuana dispensary robbery another in string of crimes

Posted on October 3rd, 2010 No Comments

At 11:54 a.m., two men armed with handguns walked into The Dispensary in the 1600 block of Monterey Road, according to police, and ordered the two employees to the floor.

According to police, around 11:53 AM Wednesday, two armed men walked into The Dispensary — a medical marijuana provider — on Monterey Road, tied up the employees, and made off with the marijuana and money.

No one was hurt.

Police are investigating any possible connection between this robbery and a number that have occurred earlier this year.

“These are two marijuana dispensaries and the dates aren’t too far off, so of course that’s something that will be looked into to see if they are tied in,” said Officer Jose Garcia, a department spokesman.

A Scotts Valley couple has been brought into custody on charges of
identification theft.

According to Santa Clara County
Sheriff's Department, the investigation began when one suspect's
roommate called police to report stolen property. The deputy
eventually found stolen materials, a bag of stolen mail, and a truck
that had been involved in an earlier hit-and-run accident. The county
judge issued a warrant for the arrest of the suspect, although he had
already been detained for passing a bad check in Sunnyville. His
girlfriend fled the scene, leading police on a chase all the way to
San Francisco, where she was eventually stopped and arrested.

On Monday, the suspect was held in
the county jail with charges of forgery, identity theft, and
possessing counterfeit bills. If you have been charged with a crime,
you need experienced legal help to represent you fairly in court.

Posted on February 23rd, 2010 No Comments

Domestic violence deaths in Santa Clara increased for the first time in four years in 2009. According to a report from various Santa Clara County enforcement agencies, eleven people were killed in domestic violence disputes.

The 11 deaths in 2009 were three more than the eight deaths in 2008. According to the report, the uptick in violence may be the result of families facing tough economic situations in the recent recession.
